SAN MARCOS (9-12-2017) -- Palomar running back Issiah Aguero, a sophomore out of Poway High School, has been selected as Southern Conference All-Purpose/Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the Comets' 47-14 victory at Santa Monica College on Saturday night.

Aguero returned two kickoffs for 102 yards in the game at Santa Monica's Corsair Stadium, including an 85-yarder to begin the second half, which set up a Palomar touchdown.

He also rushed for 53 yards on 10 carries.

Agueroo's performance helped Palomar go 2-0 on the season, while Santa Monica saw its record dip to 1-1. Agueroo also played a starring role as the Comets won their 2017 season opener with a victory on the road over Southwestern the previous week. Palomar will play its home opener Saturday at 6 p.m. against Cerritos on Saturday at Escondido High School's Chick Embrey Field at Wilson stadium.
