The Palomar Comets hosted the Opening Waterman Festival this weekend including a day set aside for individual event and a day for relays as they hosted San Diego Mesa, Chaffey College, Cerritos, Cypress, Riverside City, and Grossmont.
Friday opened with the Men's and Women's Pentathlon, with Palomar's leading swimmer Jarad Altman. Altman, was the fastest on the day for the Comets finishing the Pentathlon in a combined time of 2:51.84 earning him a 14th place finish, our only men's time to place in the top 20. One of Altman's best swims came during his 50m freestyle at a 23.52 which was 7th in that event. Other Pentathlon swimmers included Toby Fast who finished in a combined time of 2:54.23, Terrin Davis (2:56.55), and Myles McCauley (2:58.94) who were the only other Comets to have a combined time under 3 minutes.
The Men's relay team took 2 first place finishes on the day, one in the 200 Yard Medley Under/Over Relay with a time of 2:11.40 (Van Horn, Buckman, Altman, Dyer) and the other in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:34.97 (Altman, MCauley, Dyer, Foli). The men's team looks to improve some times heading into the next event but sees a lot of promise in their team who got the taste of some victory this weekend.
