The Comets take the win versus Santa Ana on the road as they extend their win streak to 5 games. Palomar, now 6-1, tallied 7 hits on the day in triumph over Santa Ana. Behind another strong performance by Crystal Moore-DesLauriers on the rubber and a strong offensive day by Kylie Pignone, the comets carry their win streak into Wednesday's matchup with Chaffey College.
It was Kylie Pignone's bat that seemed to make the difference in the game with her 2 run homerun in the top of the 3rd inning that scored Jordan Ladner and the ball that was put in play to the first baseman in the 5th, who committed an error resulting in 2 runs for the Comets. There were 7 different Comets who hit safely with 7 hits on the day. Pignone, Fisher, Garcia, Hughen, Ladner, Zamora, and Crawford all came through for Palomar at the dish.
Crystal Moore-DesLauriers (2-1) pitched 4 innings for the comets giving up 5 hits, 2 earned runs, 2 walks with 1 strikeout, having another solid outing for the Comets. DesLauriers has been great her last two outings giving the Comets a positive look going forward, keeping them in games. Allie Hughen came in to close for the Comets throwing a near perfect 3 innings as she gave up 1 hit with an exceptional 6 strikeouts.
The Comets have been pitching and hitting well in the past 5 games, bringing their record to 6-1 and their win streak to 5. Palomar will face off with Chaffey College (7-4) in Wednesday's Valentine's Day game at Palomar College.
