San Marcos—Behind the pinpoint accuracy of sophomore pitcher Alicia Garcia, the Palomar College Softball Team posted another shutout win over a ranked non-conference opponent on Tuesday, defeating No. 7 (SoCal Region) Riverside City College, 3-0 at Comet Field. The victory extended the Comet win streak to eight games, marking the team's third-straight shutout win and a state-leading 16th shutout for the season. During the current win streak, Palomar pitchers have allowed just four runs.

Garcia (16-0), allowed just three hits, while striking out 11, walking just one and stranding six Tiger baserunners. She was also a major contributor offensively, going 1-for-3 with a key RBI single in the fifth inning. Freshman Keyona Villanueva went 2-for-3 and scored two runs, while freshman Sarah Fisher added an RBI triple and alertly scored on a wild pitch. Riverside fell to 22-11 with the loss.

Coach Lacey Craft's Comets (26-3), will return to Pacific Coast Athletic Conference action at Southwestern on Wednesday and at home vs. College of the Desert at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, before hosting El Camino College in a rain make-up at 12-noon on Saturday.
