Comets finish sixth in SoCal Regional, two advance to State Tournament

CHINO HILLS, CA (5/6/2019) – Palomar finished in sixth place of nine teams at the SoCal Regionals. As a team, they missed out on qualifying for the state tournament by five shots, with a combined score of 744. Five shots separated the teams that finished third-sixth place, which were Santa Barbara, Cypress, Orange Coast and Palomar.

Montes won the tournament shooting for a combined score of 139. Hazlett was even with a par 146.

Kyoshiro Azumada shot a 152 and Alex Rhee shot a 153. Zach Brown scored a 154 and Richard Jeppesen shot a 161.

Montes and Hazlett will advance to the state tournament. The State Championship will be played May 13 at Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, CA.
