Navarro dominates as Comets blank Citrus

SAN MARCOS, CA (3/21/2026) -- Joey Navarro was in control from the first pitch. The Pre-Season All-American right-hander scattered three hits over six shutout innings Saturday afternoon as the No. 5 Palomar College Comets blanked Citrus College 5-0 at Bob Vetter Field, improving to 21-3 on the season.

Navarro improved to 6-0, striking out five and walking just one in another efficient outing. Nate Moloney, Dylan Berentis, Chance Crawford, and Nate Sheriff combined to retire the final nine batters in order and preserve the shutout.

The offense was quiet through three innings before breaking through in a big way in the fourth. Palomar sent nine batters to the plate and scored all five of its runs in the frame without the benefit of an extra-base hit — just patient at-bats, timely contact, and four walks that kept the line moving. Justin Tucker drove in two with a single, Braedon Peterson-Cheek added a two-run double, and Adrian Macias came through with a run-scoring knock to cap the inning.

Citrus fell to 16-9 on the season. The Owls managed four hits but never seriously threatened, stranding five runners on the afternoon.

Palomar returns to PCAC action Tuesday, opening a three-game series at San Diego Mesa.
