Navarro, Comets close regular season in style with 15-1 win over Grossmont
SAN MARCOS, CA (4/24/2026) -- The No. 3 Palomar College Comets answered Thursday's loss the only way they know how. Joey Navarro shut down No. 27 Grossmont College for six scoreless innings Friday afternoon at Bob Vetter Field, and the offense did the rest in a 15-1 regular season finale victory that closed out the year at 34-5 overall and 23-2 in the PCAC.
Navarro was masterful, allowing just three hits while walking two and striking out three across six innings. He improved to 9-1 on the season, one of the most dominant individual pitching records in the state. Jude Atley, Chance Crawford, and Joey Halter handled the final three frames, with Halter striking out the side in the ninth to close out the regular year.
Preston Conklin was the offensive standout, going 2-for-5 with five RBI, including a double. Jacob Loving went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles, Michael Rodda finished 3-for-6 with three RBI, and Rainn McMillan drove in two. Justin Tucker scored three times and drove in one, and Elijah Stephens reached base four times, two hits and two walks, while scoring three runs. Palomar finished with 18 hits and struck out just once on the afternoon.
Grossmont fell to 25-15 overall and 17-8 in the PCAC.
Palomar will learn its postseason seeding Sunday morning when conference officials meet to set the bracket.
