Palomar Crushes Imperial Valley to Stay Perfect in PCAC

SAN MARCOS, CA (1/22/2025) -- The Palomar College women's basketball team delivered another dominant performance on Wednesday night, defeating Imperial Valley College 90-38 at home. With the win, the Comets improved to 13-6 overall and 5-0 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) play, solidifying their position at the top of the standings.

Palomar showcased their depth and versatility, with eight players scoring at least seven points. Angelina De Leon led the way with 15 points off the bench, including three three-pointers, while Kailani Flournoy recorded a double-double with 10 points and a team-high 16 rebounds. Angeline Valdivia added 11 points, connecting on three shots from beyond the arc, and Kylee Trujillo chipped in 13 points, going 6-of-8 from the free-throw line.

The Comets' defense was relentless, holding Imperial Valley to just 25.4% shooting from the field and forcing 24 turnovers, which they converted into 32 points. Palomar also dominated on the boards, outrebounding their opponents 54-33 and adding 12 second-chance points. Their transition game was equally impressive, scoring 16 fast-break points to Imperial Valley's four.

Palomar set the tone early, racing out to a 27-9 lead in the first quarter and never looking back. Their offensive efficiency peaked in the second quarter when they shot 64.7% from the field, extending their lead to 41 points by halftime.

With the victory, the Comets remain undefeated in conference play and advance to 13-6 on the season and will look to carry their momentum into Friday's road game against Cuyamaca College.
